Rolls Royce – Equipment Health Monitoring
Rolls Royce not only builds gas turbines for aircraft, but also provides various services and systems to help in the management, leveraging and efficiency of those turbines. These value-add services represent a sizeable part of the Rolls Royce business model.
Gas turbines are extremely expensive pieces, and having them out of action for unscheduled maintenance is a huge cost for Rolls Royce and their partners. Whilst services and systems were already in place to deliver prevent unscheduled maintenance by monitoring equipment health, these systems required significant attention from experienced engineers, with little self-service facility for partner companies.
Rolls Royce identified an opportunity to provde a pro-active reporting and monitoring system that could not inly be used by internal staff, but also sold to partners to enable better management of equipment, and therefore costs. We worked with Rolls Royce to deliver a web based system to this effect, that delivered interactive graphs and business intelligence to both engineers and management regarding the health of their equipment, with alterting as to when something might need attention. This solution was sold to numerous large scale partners and utilised by Rolls Royce internally.
